Human Elephent Coexistence Workshop at Odisha

LIFE Trust India, in collaboration with International Elephant Foundation, is organizing a three-day Human-Wildlife Coexistence Workshop in Rayagada, Odisha specifically designed for educators. This workshop aims to create awareness and provide knowledge and skills to educators regarding human-wildlife coexistence, with a focus on addressing the challenges and promoting peaceful coexistence between humans and elephants.

 

Date and venue: The workshop will span three days and will be held in Rayagada Odisha from 29-31 May 2023, a region known for its significant human-elephant conflict and the need for effective coexistence strategies.

 

Participants: The workshop primarily targets educators who play a crucial role in disseminating information and shaping the mindset of future generations. Educators from various disciplines, including environmental studies, biology, geography, and social sciences, are encouraged to participate.

 

Workshop Theme: The workshop will cover a wide range of topics related to human-elephant coexistence, including:

   - Understanding elephant behaviour, biology, and ecology.

   - Exploring the causes and consequences of human-elephant conflict.

   - Identifying effective strategies and best practices for mitigating conflict.

   - Promoting conservation awareness and sustainable practices.

   - Engaging local communities and stakeholders in coexistence efforts.

   - Developing educational materials and resources to raise awareness among students.
